Critical to assessing our performance against our sustainability framework is the regular collection, analysis and disclosure of data. Our Internal Audit team makes a provision to review the robustness of this data within their standard divisional audits. This table shows performance data for the previous reporting period (1 July to 30 June) and the previous five years where data is available.

Footnotes FY24

NC = Data unavailable in FY20 due to COVID 19

  1. Housebuild equivalent build area, reflects build activity in the year, rather than area of sold units, eliminating any timing differences between build and sales activity. Housebuild equivalent area is based on build stage landmarks achieved in the period.
  2. From FY20 onwards, manufacturing and office waste figures include manufacturing waste from Oregon Timber Frame Ltd. Previous to FY19, recycling data is for paper segregation only.
  3. Areas of wildlife habitat shows only areas created by Barratt Developments and not areas that have been retained
  4. Includes both public and private open space.
  5. Employee turnover excludes turnover from redundancy, death in service and the ending of temporary contracts.
  6. Excludes apprentices and trainees, unless part of an under represented or disadvantaged group from FY19 onwards.
  7. The SUDs figure for FY23 was corrected in FY24
  8. All reference to number of divisions refers to Barratt Homes, David Wilson Homes and Barratt London Divisions only. Redrow divisions have not been included at this time.
  9. Total and percentage of completions includes JVs and has been adjusted for homes where more than one technology has been used.
  10. From FY24, we improved our site water collection process to increase granularity, collecting consumption by source type (legally completed plots, sales arenas, compounds and other). This resulted in an increase in our site water footprint. For prior years this granularity is unavailable so only a total figure has been disclosed.
  11. Sites providing water data is the percentage of sites reporting any water data, across all site sources. From FY24 we have also reported the % of site compounds that are metered.
  12. Built for Life has been superseded by Building for a Healthy Life and therefore Built for Life accreditation from FY22 are reported as NA. Up to FY22, 96 of our sites were awarded Built for Life accreditation.
