David Wilson Homes was selected as preferred developer for this prime site and worked alongside the parent company Wedgwood Waterford Royal Doulton (WWRD) to formulate a deliverable planning consent.
The housing proposals formed part of an enabling scheme to help fund a major redevelopment of the Wedgwood pottery factory itself and a new visitor centre, which has allowed the company to remain on the site rather than relocate.
The scheme is providing 209 high-quality homes set within acres of parkland. The development layout and exterior designs of the homes were carefully considered, paying particular regard to the integrity of the architectural styles and vernacular materials.
The provision of executive homes was a key driver for Stoke-on-Trent City Council, which seeks to encourage business people to live and work in the area by increasing the provision of aspirational housing. Wedgwood received £5.1m of government support from the Regional Growth Fund.
Wedgwood Park is in a prime location in the picturesque Staffordshire countryside, yet within commuting distance of key cities such as Birmingham, Manchester and Nottingham.
Work started on site in February 2014 and sales were launched in September 2014.
