Trumpington Meadows, Cambridge

Overview

Trumpington Meadows is an award-winning development, providing 1,200 contemporary homes set in 148 acres of waterside country park.

Trumpington Meadows is in a prime location within easy reach of Cambridge city centre and forms part of the Southern Fringe wider development strategy for Cambridge. The entire site has outline permission for 1,200 homes, land for a primary school, recreation/leisure uses and other local facilities.

The development is providing a wide mix of new homes to help meet local housing needs, with 60% for private sale and 40% affordable. They offer residents a ‘greener’ way of life: as well as being set within parkland, providing allotments and access to a future orchard on the River Cam, properties have been designed to meet Code for Sustainable Homes Levels 3 and 4. Through the use of solar technologies and photovoltaic cells on every roof, the development provides 10% renewable energy. Clever design features maximise natural daylight as well as the strategic positioning of homes to maximise south facing facades.

Trumpington Meadows has won numerous design awards and was voted Best Large Development in the Evening Standard New Homes Awards 2014. The judges said the development “raises the bar” for the next generation of communities.
