Poppy Fields, Ashford

Overview

Poppy Fields is a small development located in the quintessential village of Charing and shortlisted for The Evening Standard Best Family Home award 2016.

Poppy Fields was formerly agricultural land on the fringes of Charing village which benefitted from existing outline planning permission. Originally identified and allocated for 90 dwellings, following pro-active engagement with local residents, the Parish Council, and a presentation to the Kent Design Panel, the density was reduced by a third meeting local aspirations.

An exclusive development of 61 new homes, of which 21 are affordable, Poppy Fields is a select collection of mostly detached three, four and five bedroom houses with distinctive architectural design and spacious interiors, set in a village location. Poppy Fields is an excellent example of a low density, informal development, delivering high value, high-quality, family housing. The Pine house type in the development has been shortlisted for The Evening Standard Best Family Home award 2016.

Despite the rural location, the transport links are strong. This includes both road networks via the M20 and rail via Ashford International Station which is close-by, offering high speed rail links to London St Pancras in just over 30 minutes.
