Millford Grange, Pulborough


Millford Grange in West Sussex, is a technically complex development, located on a former quarry site.

Barratt Southern Counties acquired this former quarry site from the operators of the quarry business after planning was allowed on appeal in October 2012. It is located about 2 miles east of Storrington, on the edge of the South Downs. Throughout the planning process we established a relationship with the owners and assisted them with advice.

Overcoming various technical complications was key to enabling us to buy this site, and highlights our expertise is dealing with complex challenges. The result will be an attractive scheme offering a range of David Wilson house types with views of the South Downs or the country park.

The site will provide 78 units of which 18 will be affordable and the scheme includes an 18 acres country park, including balancing ponds which will not only offer an attractive feature but also provide surface water drainage.

In addition to providing 18 affordable homes, financial contributions totalling around £1m were paid to the local council covering payments towards education, health, the local library, and bus services.

Construction started on site in June 2013, with final completions in early 2016.
