Mark Clare
Group Chief Executive

Mark Clare was appointed Group Chief Executive of Barratt Developments plc, the UK’s largest housebuilder, in October 2006.

Mark is a member of the Government’s new Green Construction Board, and is a Trustee of the BRE Trust and the UK Green Building Council. He chaired the Housing Workstream of the Government’s Task Force looking at environmental innovation in the construction industry.

 

Previously Managing Director of Centrica's British Gas Residential Energy operation, Mark Clare joined British Gas in 1994, becoming Centrica's Finance Director in 1997 and Managing Director of British Gas Residential Energy in 2002. Whilst at British Gas he served as a member of the Energy Saving Trust and was on the Government's Fuel Poverty Advisory Group.  He was a Non-Executive Director of BAA plc until its acquisition.

Executive Director, North

Steven joined the Group in 1978. Formerly Managing Director of Barratt York, he was appointed to the Group Board in July 2001.

He is responsible for operations in Scotland, Northern England, the Midlands and South Wales.

Group General Counsel & Company Secretary

Tom joined the company on 1st April 2011.

Tom trained at Simmons & Simmons from 1984 to 1986 and became a Partner in 1991.  He left in November  2000 and became General Counsel & Company Secretary with Gallaher Group until  its acquisition in  2007 . He was General Counsel & Company Secretary with United Utilities between December  2007 and  April 2011.

Executive Director, South

Clive initially joined the Group in 1983, becoming Managing Director of Barratt West London in 1996.

He was appointed to the Group Board in July 2003 and is responsible for operations in London, Thames Gateway, Southern England and East Anglia.

Group Corporate Affairs Director

Patrick joined the Barratt Group in 2007. He joined us from Centrica plc, where he was Director of the Chief Executive’s office, Director of Corporate Affairs for the British Gas brand and Director of Public Affairs with responsibility for Centrica’s Government and Community Relations work.

Jayne Mee
Group People and Customer Experience Director

Jayne joined Barratt Developments PLC in late 2006. She has over 20 years’ experience in HR having held similar positions at the Spirit Group, Punch Taverns PLC, and positions as Director of Organisation Development at both Royal Mail Group and Whitbread.

She has recently taken on responsibility for Customer Experience. Jayne is also a Non-Executive Director at the National Skills Academy for Creative & Cultural Skills and KidsOut, the charity for disadvantaged children.

David Thomas
Group Finance Director

David Thomas, Group Finance Director, ACA, was appointed as Group Finance Director and as an Executive Director on the Barratt Board on 21st July 2009.

Prior to that David was Deputy Chief Executive and Group Finance Director of GAME Group Plc. Before joining GAME, he was group finance director at Millennium and Copthorne Hotels plc and previously held senior financial roles with House of Fraser plc and Forte plc.

Managing Director, Wilson Bowden Developments

Nick joined the Executive Committee from Wilson Bowden and has overall responsibility for Wilson Bowden Developments, a business which specialises in commercial property development and construction.

Nick joined Wilson Bowden Developments in 1991 and was appointed Managing Director in 1999. He is a Non-Executive Director of Derby Cityscape Limited, a government sponsored urban regeneration company.

Regional Managing Director, East

Richard joined the Barratt Group in 2007 following the acquisition of Wilson Bowden plc, where he was Operations Director for David Wilson Homes. Prior to that, he was Finance Director of David Wilson Homes for 8 years.

Regional Managing Director, Southern

Gary joined the Barratt Group in 1995 and was appointed Managing Director of Barratt North London in July 2003. In January 2006 he was appointed Chairman of our Southern Region.

Bernard Rooney
Regional Managing Director, Central

Bernard joined the Group in 1981.  Formerly Managing Director of Barratt Newcastle, he was appointed to his current position in July 2010 and is responsible for Barratt’s activities in the North West and West Midlands.

Alastair Baird
Regional Managing Director, London

Alastair is responsible for high-value complex residential and mixed-use developments across the capital. Alastair joined the company in 1987. Prior to this role he was Managing Director for Barratt East & West London divisions.

John Reed
Regional Managing Director, Northern

John joined the Group in 1989 and was appointed Managing Director of Barratt York in 1999. In January 2006 he was appointed Regional Managing Director of our Northern Region.

Steve Wilks
Regional Managing Director, West

Steve joined the Group in 1987. He was Managing Director of Barratt Southampton for 11 years until his appointment as a KingsOak Regional Chairman in May 2006. In January 2007 he was appointed Regional Managing Director of our West Region.
