Group Chief Executive
Mark Clare was appointed Group Chief Executive of Barratt Developments Plc, the UK’s largest housebuilder, in October 2006. The company is the only major housebuilder to be awarded a Five Star rating for customer satisfaction for the fourth successive year.
Mark is a Non-Executive Director of United Utilities PLC , a member of the Government’s Construction Leadership Council and is a Trustee of the BRE Trust and the UK Green Building Council. He also sits on the CBI Construction Council.
Previously Managing Director of Centrica's British Gas Residential Energy operation, Mark joined British Gas in 1994, becoming Centrica's Finance Director in 1997 and Managing Director of British Gas Residential Energy in 2002. He joined the Board of United Utilities Group PLC in November 2013 as a Non-Executive Director and was a Non-Executive Director of BAA plc until its acquisition.
Chief Operating Officer
Steven Boyes joined the Group in 1978.
Formerly the Managing Director of Barratt York, he was appointed to the Group Board in July 2001. Steven was appointed Chief Operating Officer responsible for all housebuilding operations in July 2012.
Group General Counsel & Company Secretary
Tom joined the company on 1st April 2011.
Tom trained at Simmons & Simmons from 1984 to 1986 and became a Partner in 1991. He left in November 2000 and became General Counsel & Company Secretary with Gallaher Group until its acquisition in 2007 . He was General Counsel & Company Secretary with United Utilities between December 2007 and April 2011.
Group Corporate Affairs Director
Patrick joined the Barratt Group in 2007. He joined us from Centrica plc, where he was Director of the Chief Executive's office, Director of Corporate Affairs for the British Gas brand and Director of Public Affairs with responsibility for Centrica's Government and Community Relations work.
Prior to Centrica, Patrick held various posts at British Gas in the communications field.
Group Sales and Marketing Director
Jeremy joined Barratt Developments in 2008. He has 19 years' experience in Marketing and Retail Operations.
Jeremy held a similar role at the Spirit Group. Prior to that, Jeremy worked for Allied Domecq and Marstons having graduated in Economics.
Group HR Director
Rob Tansey joined the Barratt Group on 1st August 2012 from Dairy Crest Plc where he was Group HR Director for 6 years.
Before joining Dairy Crest Rob was HR Director at Travis Perkins Plc and previously held senior HR roles at Celesio AG and Wickes.
Group Finance Director
David Thomas, Group Finance Director, ACA, was appointed as Group Finance Director and as an Executive Director on the Barratt Board on 21st July 2009.
Prior to that David was Deputy Chief Executive and Group Finance Director of GAME Group Plc. Before joining GAME, he was group finance director at Millennium and Copthorne Hotels plc and previously held senior financial roles with House of Fraser plc and Forte plc.
Managing Director, Wilson Bowden Developments
Nick joined the Executive Committee from Wilson Bowden and has overall responsibility for Wilson Bowden Developments, a business which specialises in commercial property development and construction.
Nick joined Wilson Bowden Developments in 1991 and was appointed Managing Director in 1999. He is a Non-Executive Director of Derby Cityscape Limited, a government sponsored urban regeneration company.
Regional Managing Director, East
Richard joined the Barratt Group in 2007 following the acquisition of Wilson Bowden plc, where he was Operations Director for David Wilson Homes. Prior to that, he was Finance Director of David Wilson Homes for 8 years.
Regional Managing Director, Southern
Gary joined the Barratt Group in 1995 and was appointed Managing Director of Barratt North London in July 2003. In January 2006 he became Regional Managing Director of our Southern Region.
Regional Managing Director, Central
Bernard joined the Group in 1981. Formerly Managing Director of Barratt Newcastle, he was appointed to his current position in July 2010 and is responsible for Barratt's activities in the North West, Midlands and South Wales.
Regional Managing Director, London
Alastair is responsible for high-value complex residential and mixed-use developments across the capital. Alastair joined the company in 1987. Prior to this role he was Managing Director for Barratt East & West London divisions.
Regional Managing Director, Northern
John joined the Group in 1989 and was appointed Managing Director of Barratt York in 1999. In January 2006 he was appointed Regional Managing Director of our Northern Region.
Regional Managing Director, West
Chris joined the Group in 1985. He has worked throughout the UK for the business and for the last 13 years as Managing Director for the Barratt Yorkshire West Division. He was appointed to his current role in July 2012 and is responsible for Barratt's operations in the South West of England.
Group Land & Planning Director
Philip's role for Barratt is focused on land acquisition activity and helping to guide our major projects through the planning process.
Philip is a Fellow of both the Royal Town Planning Institute and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. He joined Barratt in July 2013 having previously been a Director at Nathaniel Lichfield and Partners, a leading economics and town planning consultancy.
Group Design & Technical Director
Michael joined Barratt in 1982 and has held various roles, including overseeing the design, technical and procurement functions.
During the last 10 years he has held the position of the Barratt Group Design and Technical Director. Michael sits on the Barratt Group Health and Safety Committee, CSR Committee and Chairs the NHBC’s Standards Review Committee.
