Our objective is to maximise shareholder value by creating outstanding places to live and work that serve the long-term needs of our customers and their communities.

We have housebuilding activity well distributed across Great Britain, providing a strong base for future growth. The business has products spanning the market from urban regeneration to up-market housing under the well-respected David Wilson brand, to social housing and commercial development.

We produce around 18,500 homes every year and employ 5,500 people across our 26 divisions.

We operate under two strong national brands for house building – Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes. We also have a strong regional brand – Ward Homes - operating in Kent and the South East.

We are a leading force in urban regeneration breathing new life into towns and cities establishing thriving new communities – around 80 per cent of our new homes are built on brownfield sites.

In 2007 we won ‘House Builder of The Year’ in the ‘Your New Home Awards’ awards. Also three regeneration projects won ‘Housing Design Awards’ which celebrate “housing of great ambition and vision”.

We have a track record of investing to improve customer service. Some 85 per cent of our existing customers say that they would recommend us to a friend. We plan to raise this figure even higher.

We are committed to playing a full part in improving our environmental performance. Using the experience gained from our unique EcoSmart show village, we are now building The Green House, one of the lowest emission homes ever to be constructed in this country.

We are committed to the highest standards of corporate responsibility. We are a member of the FTSE4Good Index and are also the only housebuilder to appear in the ‘Top 100 Companies that Count’, demonstrating a commitment to continually improving our impact on society and the environment.

Investment in people is critical to our future success. We currently have over 500 apprentices receiving training and have doubled our graduate intake.

We are one of the largest builders of social housing in this country. Last year we completed 2,833 homes for our Housing Association partners.

We are committed to building homes which people can afford to buy. Around a quarter of our homes are bought by First Time Buyers. We will also be building 2,000 of our innovative Barratt iPads, starter properties particularly suitable for First Time Buyers.
